The feet of Mother Teresa.  Painted in 2011

"When I first came across a photo of Blessed Mother Teresa’s feet, it struck me how much this photo told me about this amazing woman and her example of self-sacrificing love. Here was a soul that cared for others to the extent of neglecting her own physical wellbeing and comfort. It was a commonly known story that among the sisters in the Missionaries of Charity houses, when a shipment of used shoes would arrive at their convent to be distributed to those in need of them, Mother would rummage through and select the most worn and beaten up sandals she could find. Between the uncomfortable shoes and her many years at the service of the poorest of the poor in Calcutta and elsewhere throughout the world, her poor feet and entire body were spent and “wasted for God’s sake” to bring the love and compassion of Christ to those whom no one cared for."  Tommy Canning
